Come and enjoy a Christmas Polar Bear get together at Bude Sea Pool.

A fun winter skins swimming event with no racing or timings but lots of fun and medals guaranteed.

Relaxed Polar Bear swimwear rules - no wetsuits or rash vests but you can wear gloves, boots and any type or number of swimhats.

However if you want your swim to count towards the Polar Bear Challenge then strict Polar Bear swimwear rules apply.

Rolling starts so you can swim with your friends.

It is strongly recommended that you enter no more than two events ( including the relay ) and the Plunge! as it will be very cold and there are no indoor changing facilities. There is a warm room that can be used once you are dry and dressed.

In addition to the entry fee a donation on the day of £5 to Friends of Bude Sea Pool would be appreciated.

What about weather conditions on the day?

Bude Sea Pool is a very exposed setting and the event is weather dependant - please do not incur irrecoverable accommodation or other costs.

What will the water temperature be?

This is a Winter Swimming event and the water temperature will be cold - approx 7 degrees.

Please make sure you are sufficiently acclimitised and have trained for your chosen event and that you are aware of the risks of swimming in cold water in particular of hypothermia and cold water shock. It is recommended that you bring someone with you to help to get dressed and watch you while you swim to ensure your safety.

All swimmers attend the event and swim at their own risk.

No liability is attached to the organisers or to Bude Sea Pool.

What swimwear is acceptable?

No wetsuits or rash vests. Swimsuit only but you can wear gloves, boots and any type of swimhat.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Over 18s only.

What facilities are available at Bude Sea Pool?

There are very limited indoor changing facilities at BSP so you should be prepared to get changed outside even in inclement weather. There will be a heated indoor facility with hot drinks where you can warm up once you are dry and dressed.

The nearest toilet facilities are located at Summerleaze car park

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is ample car parking ( pay and display ) at Summerleaze beach car park
