The Tamar Swim - Sunday 28th June - FULL - Entries closed

There are a maximum of 40 places available for The Tamar swim on Sunday June 28th and there will be no entries on the day.
To register please contact Pauline Barker on and I'll send you details.

The swim is just under a mile across the River Tamar below the Tamar and Brunel bridges starting from Saltash to England and back.
It is a social swim and not a race although due to the strong current you need to be able to swim a mile comfortably in open water in 45 minutes to take part.  Tamar canoe club will be on hand to help out but there is no formal safety cover and you swim at your own risk.

You must read the swimsafe advice here and all swimmers must wear a brightly coloured swimhat which you can either provide yourself or there are swimhats available here   No hat - No swim.

The water temperature will be about 13 degrees so you must wear a wetsuit unless you can evidence that you have acclimitised sufficiently this year - please don't turn up on the day expecting to swim without a wetsuit unless this has been pre-approved.

Although there is no entry fee for the event a suggested donation of £5 to The Chestnut Appeal would be appreciated. The Chestnut Appeal is a Plymouth based charity offering support to those with prostate cancer. .
You can either donate on the day or via paypal in advance

This year's Tamar swim will start at 3.40 PM on Sunday so you will need to sign a disclaimer and  be registered as present by 3.10 PM and ready to swim at 3.25PM. There will be a mandatory safety briefing at 3.30PM and the swim will start immediately after.

High tide is at 3.48PM and we will swim on slack tide when the current is at a minimum so you need to be prompt.

The swim is part of Saltash Regatta celebrations so bring friends and family along to watch you swim and enjoy the regatta events afterwards !!
